“White Glove” Delivery To New Pittsburgh Restaurant

We recently received some beautiful furniture and inside “white glove” delivered the pieces to a new restaurant opening in Pittsburgh. Trapuzzano Italian Chophouse  hopes to open in December, depending on the liquor license transfer, in what had been the Elbow Room on Walnut Street in Shadyside. It’s a venture from the Trapuzzano family — John, Michael, Ben and Edmund — as well as Tony Ottaviani of Antonio’s Italian Chophouse of Morgantown, W.Va., and Ristorante Ottaviani in Cumberland, Md. The menu will feature spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parmesan, veal or lamb chops, two or three cuts of steak, as well as rabbit and venison. The partners will be doing a full cosmetic renovation of the space, in particular the lounge, which will include a piano bar.

Vanessa GermanWe have been pleased to help rising local artist, Vanessa German with the crating and shipping of her pieces to museums, galleries, and collectors across the country. Ms German was recently covered in a Huffington Post article where she talks about her “power doll” pieces and her community work with children. She has been chosen as a feature artist in the Crystal Bridges Museum’s State Of The Art exhibit and her works are also displayed at the Pavel Zoubok Gallery in NYC. Many of Ms German’s pieces are created from recycled artifacts found in her neighborhood. Her mixed media assemblages present special challenges in successfully packing, crating, and shipping, but we have risen to the challenge.

We Crate Really Big Equipment

Here are some pictures of a crating job we completed this week. Six crates of large gas metering equipment being shipped by ocean overseas. Two of the equipment pieces measured 28 feet long by 10 feet wide by 10 feet high and weighed 35,000 lbs each. All equipment needed to be wrapped in soft-foam and marine-grade plastic prior to crating.

Specialty Wrapping For Ocean Cargo

Marine WrapPak Mail Pittsburgh Crate & Ship offers the full range of export packing options. We recently completed packing and crating all the components of an MRI machine. Shown in the picture below is the large head unit of the machine wrapped with a 7 mil marine grade, heat shrink polyethylene. Desiccant conforming to Mil-D-3464 was placed inside the polyethylene, prior to being sealed. This wrapping protects the unit against moisture and the corrosive nature of sea air when shipping via ocean cargo.

NYT Magazine Article – Vinyl Records We Packed

Check out this New York Times Magazine  Article  on the Brazilian collector that purchased the three million plus records collection of Pittsburgh’s Paul Mawhinney. Pak Mail Pittsburgh Crate & Ship packed up this collection (eight 53′ trailers in all) that was sold to Zero Freitas of San Paulo. To quote one of the our packing crew, “digital music never seemed sweeter than after packing millions of heavy vinyl records”!
